This Mission is Important

I was just reading some information about the latest polls from back in the States. The poll was about how Americans feel about the troops being here in Iraq. Quite disturbing.

I just want to make it clear how I feel. I am here. I am experiencing life here. There are so many good political reasons to stay, but politics aside... The Iraqi people need us. We are providing them with the tools they need to create a democracy and have freedom and prosperity for generations to come. Think about that. America is making it possible for a people to free themselves from oppression and from poverty. That is huge.

America has made a sacrafice of blood in this land. Iraqi's have made the same sacrifice. It would not be responsible for us to not "stay the course" and finish what we have started. Things are improving. It is amazing to see. We are building the country up. Just like we did Germany, Japan, and South Korea. We are building schools, roads, Mosques, bridges, ect... and every tax paying American is a part of that. It is somthing to be proud of. Every American can wake up in the morning and say, "I am doing something good, something selfless for a poor, oppressed people. America stands for goodness. It is a good place with good people who believe in doing what is right, not just in doing what is easy."

We can not throw away this price that has been paid. To do so would be a slap in the face to tax payers, to soldiers who serve here (and have served here), and to those who have given their lives for this cause.

Well, I have rattled on for long enough. I just think that this perspective needs to be heard.

What we are doing here is great. It is historic. Democracy will work in Iraq, but it takes time to do anything worth while.

Thanks for reading.

Can I get an Amen! Nice comments Drew. I appreciate hearing that perspective from someone who is actually doing something out there.

Couldn't have said it better myself. In fact, I think I did say that myself! Glad we agree. Keep up the good job, Mr. Drew.
